The Chrysallis Power of One - Know Your Special Friend
The first leg of the Journey

God Does Mighty Miracles
– He brings us together and makes the impossible – possible!

What does it mean to set out on a journey of different cities for the first time without ever having been there?

What does it mean to have a group of people whom you have never met before - who have worked hard and long for you to create a powerful and life changing event?

It means that each one of us has the power to motivate and inspire and do things which seem nearly impossible.

9 cities - Bangalore, Pondicherry, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Guwahati - South, North, Central and East India - a wonderful medley of children's voices from each city illustrating on posters the meaning of 'Integration' and 'Special Friendship"

1500 children with and without challenges - working together with joy - taking back with them the knowledge that they belong to the same world and to each other

100s of Volunteers - undergoing a life changing experience with the commitment to work longer and harder to make inclusive education a reality.

“This is the first time I am meeting a woman coming alone – to a new city – and, conducting such a well organized programme with so much meaning”- Special Educator, Guwahati

The ‘Power of One’ is a reality,

To all of you who were with us in mind, body and spirit - thank you for your participation, thank you for caring, thank you for praying.

Our journey continues with the nationwide Chrysallis Power of One Exhibitions and the Chrysallis Volunteer Bike Ride.

On March 3, 2007 I stepped out in Faith - I thank God for the many blessings He has brought to every programme.

Remember us in your prayers as we set out again on a more daunting task.

What is the Chrysallis Power of One?

The Chrysallis Power of One

a nation wide campaign raising awareness on
Integration of children with and without challenges
across 33 state and union capitals across the country

The Chrysallis Power of One is a 180 day long campaign
  • to integrate children with and without challenges
  • to raise awareness of disability issues among the general public
  • to eliminate doubts on the ability of the challenged community
  • to gain positive recognition of challenged people’s skills, needs and right
  • to form a network of young adults who spread the message of equal opportunity across the country.
The Journey has already begun with Bangalore, Pondicherry and Chennai
over 500 children - 150 volunteers - 250 placards

See the children - View their placards - Read this poster

The Journey begins with

The Chrysallis Power of One – Know Your Special Friend Creative Placard Activity

Hundreds of children with and without challenges are working together in pairs creating placards which talk about peer acceptance, social interaction, fellowship and understanding, sharing and caring,

Over 150 Volunteers from colleges, working adults and senior citizens have undergone a life changing experience interacting and communicating with the children.

Outcome:

Empowering challenged children with a social group within which to interact with those outside and independent of their family and immediate neighborhood.

The Journey continues

The Chrysallis Power of One – Placard Exhibition

This activity will bring together individuals and organizations presenting a common message - integration of children and adults with and without challenges.

Invitees will

  • witness performances by both children with and without challenges
  • review the messages on posters and placards made by the children
  • choose the placard with the strongest message by ballot

All placards will be printed on

  • wall posters
  • cards
  • tee shirts
  • coffee mugs
  • calendars
  • a coffee table book
  • and, a short film 'Know Your Special Friend'

The message of integration will ripple for the ensuing weeks and months.

The Journey continues across 18,000 kms

The Chrysallis Power of One Bike Ride

We have a very special Volunteer - Prashant Pillai - a volunteer with Chrysallis for over 3 years.
